Welcome! I'm glad you stopped by.
I've always been fascinated by the human body and how it works. In college I received a Psychology degree with a minor in biology because I wanted to understand the mind, emotions, body, and behavior. I became really interested in health psychology and the mind-body connection, and learned how things like stress and meditation can impact the body.
Several years down the road I experienced how much stress had impacted my body. Personally, I started getting sick in grad school. The impact of stress, being away from family and loved ones, little to no exercise, and no stress management took its toll on me. I wasn’t getting better on my own and found doctors to be of little help. I thankfully found the help of a nutritionist and discovered the impact nutrition has and continues to have on my body. I learned how food is medicine and how important it is to nourish and fuel your body with the right foods and avoid those foods your body can’t tolerate and are highly processed. There is no magic pill for this.
I found food to be my medicine although I continued to have symptoms and chronic illness. I read up on nutrition and digestive disorders and took in as much information as I could in my free time. I tried seeing several more doctors but finally landed in a functional medicine doctor’s office where they really wanted to get to the root of what was going on with my body.
My quest for better health has spanned nearly 2 decades. I've healed tremendously with the help of my functional medicine and Naturopathic doctors and nurses and am still on my health journey where I’ve dealt with multiple food sensitivities, leaky gut, IBS, mold toxicity, CIRS (chronic inflammatory response syndrome), elevated liver enzymes, and insulin sensitivity issues. Through my research and experiences I have learned that true health is multifaceted and requires a holistic approach. What we feed our bodies and our minds matter. How we use our bodies, or lack thereof, matters. I have also found that the environment that surrounds us can also have an enormous impact too.
I know first hand how lost, frustrated and alone one can feel while trying to navigate the medical system with chronic health issues. I really wish I had the help, support, and guidance I needed during that time. That's why I decided to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach! I'm not only passionate about nourishing food, holistic health and wellness, but I also don't want others to have to go through what I've been through and endure that struggle alone.
